International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8th to recognise the achievements of women, raise awareness about gender equality, and advocate for women's rights. The theme for International Women's Day 2023 is Equity.

So what is Equity? Equity refers to fairness and justice in the distribution of resources and opportunities. It involves recognising and addressing the systemic barriers that prevent individuals from accessing equal opportunities and resources. Achieving equity requires intentional efforts to address inequalities and prioritise the needs of those who have been historically marginalised and underrepresented.

The theme of Equity emphasises the need to create a world where all individuals, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status, have equal access to opportunities and resources. It recognises that achieving gender equity is crucial for creating a fair and just society where everyone can thrive.
