Why are they called kitten heels?
This classic heel gained widespread popularity in the late 1950s as a training heel for ""kittens""— that is, young ladies and teenage girls who were not prepared for high heel stilettos, which were mainly worn by grown women. Kitten heels were used by girls to get accustomed to the uneasy walk of stilettos.
